Studio Pro clip library no longer deletes early Fixed Studio Pro
Studio Pro's clip library promised dubs for 30 days, but something was deleting them after six hours instead. Fixed, and the same fix applies to comped servers.
Import a folder of dub packs at once New Studio Pro
Studio Pro can now select as many dub packs as you like and import them in one go, instead of one at a time. They still upload and encode sequentially, so you can start fifty and walk away. A single bad pack in the batch no longer stops the rest from importing.
Studio Pro import queue doubled to 10 Improved Studio Pro
Studio Pro can now have 10 packs queued for import at once, up from 5.
Import quota no longer shared between people Fixed
Imports from every server were counted against one shared bucket rather than each person's own allowance, so somebody else importing could get you refused with a bare "try again in about an hour". That bucket is gone. Your own allowance is unchanged: five packs every six hours on a free server, and no limit at all on Studio.
Deafen everyone without a part New
A new Voice tab setting in Server Settings server-deafens anyone in the channel who isn't cast while the tape is rolling. They get their hearing back when the take stops, when they're given a line, or when they leave, and the director always keeps theirs. This only deafens, it doesn't mute, but nothing an uncast person says was ever recorded anyway, since only performers are written to tape.
Posted dub links no longer go dead Fixed
Re-rendering a scene used to delete the file a previously posted link pointed to, so posted dubs went dead within minutes. The posted message also always claimed a six-hour lifespan, even on servers that keep dubs for a month. Both fixed.
Boosted servers get the dub video, not a link New
Boosted servers now get the finished dub attached to the message itself instead of a link: up to 50 MB at Boost Level 2 and 100 MB at Level 3. That copy stays in the channel for good.

Fixed a blank screen when picking a scene Fixed
Picking a scene could sometimes leave the screen blank. This is now fixed.
Delete a dub from the clip library New
The clip library now has a Delete button. It removes the dub for the whole server, and only the person who made it or a server manager can use it. It is refused if someone is watching the dub right now, or if the dub already has an open report on it.
Apply sound settings to the whole cast at once New
Voice level and effect used to be set one take at a time. The Sound panel now has an Apply to everyone option, and only the director can use it.

Hand over directing New
The room's host is now called the director, and the job is no longer locked to whoever opened the Activity first. Click any player's portrait to hand directing over, and if nobody holds the seat, anyone can take it.
Cast everyone in one click New
A new button fills every open part with players who don't have one yet, dealing them out round robin. It never reassigns a part someone has already claimed.
Non-Latin cast names fixed Fixed
Cast names in Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic or Japanese used to collapse into a single actor, with every one of their lines sharing the same ID, and non-English quotes could show up doubled in the teleprompter. Both are fixed. The fix only applies to new imports, so re-import any pack already in your server to get it.
Failed screens show the error Fixed
If a screen errors while loading, it now shows what went wrong along with a retry button, instead of leaving you looking at an empty page.

Exports no longer open on a frozen frame Fixed
An exported mp4 could sit on its first frame for several seconds before the picture caught up with the sound. This only ever happened on exports that skip the watermark pass, which is why some servers saw it on every export and others never saw it at all. Exports now start on the first frame for everyone.
"Hear original" now works on every line Fixed
On some packs, line audio would not play: the "Hear original" button did nothing on some lines but not others in the same scene. The reference audio was stored in a format the Discord client accepts unreliably. Every scene has been converted to a format the client already plays everywhere else. Nothing about the recordings changed, and existing scenes are fixed without re-importing.

Mobile recording controls stay within reach Improved
On mobile, Record, Stop and Cut now stay in a thumb-friendly bar instead of spilling off the edge or below the line on smaller phones, while meters and listening options stay out of the way. The clip stays landscape, but the rest of a dub now works better in portrait, whole-scene recording still fits when Discord cannot rotate you, and recording controls remain available in picture-in-picture.
Casting and swapping parts no longer collide Fixed
Back to casting, renamed Scene selection in the same release, and Swap parts used to lead to the same place. Scene selection now returns you to the picker, while Swap parts keeps the current scene and rotates the cast.
In-use scenes cannot be deleted mid-session Fixed
A scene being used by a room can no longer be deleted before its dub has been rendered.
Guests no longer see host-only controls Fixed
Guests no longer see controls that only a host can use and that previously just answered with an error.
Screens now open at the top Fixed
Moving between scene selection, casting and Help now returns you to the top of the next screen, instead of dropping you halfway down it.
Retake controls stay visible in landscape Fixed
Single-line retakes now keep the original-audio button and the live mic meter visible on short landscape screens.
Fix quiet or loud takes after recording New
Every recorded line now has its own Sound controls. A take that came back too quiet can be boosted by up to 12 dB, and a louder take can be turned down to sit better in the mix. The player still plays the original recording so changes apply on the next render, either you or the host can adjust a take, and Reset restores the original sound.
Voice effects after recording New
A take can now have Higher Voice, Lower Voice, Room Reverb or Echo applied after recording, so Discord cannot cut off a reverb or echo tail while you are still speaking. Only one effect applies per take, and the original recording is never overwritten. Thanks to Kermoots for the feature request.
Sound settings survive a restart Fixed
Sound settings now survive a server restart along with the rest of the room.
Older clients hide unsupported sound controls Fixed
Older local versions now hide Sound controls they do not support, instead of sending a command the server cannot handle.

The bot rejoins after a dropped voice connection Fixed
When Discord dropped the bot's voice connection mid session, it used to give up, and the only way back was for everyone to leave the voice channel and reopen DisDubs halfway through their lines. It now rejoins on its own and keeps recording straight through the gap. This was affecting rooms roughly a hundred times a day.
Encryption re-keying no longer silences a performer Fixed
Discord re-keys call encryption every time someone joins or leaves a voice channel, and for a moment the audio reaching the bot becomes unreadable, indistinguishable from a broken microphone. That used to silence a performer for the rest of the session. The bot now waits a few seconds and picks the recording back up.
A bad audio packet no longer costs a whole session Fixed
One corrupted audio packet used to end a performer's recording for the rest of the session. Now it only costs a single frame.
Cutting a take no longer risks splicing in silence Fixed
Cutting a take could briefly stall the part of the server that times voice recordings, splicing silence into whoever else was mid line at that moment. That stall is fixed.
Encryption drops are now counted New
Audio packets lost to encryption re-keying are now tracked, so a missed line leaves a record to chase instead of only a guess.

Studio scenes can now run up to 20 minutes Improved Studio
The upload ceiling for Studio servers went from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. If your server was already subscribed to Studio, the longer ceiling is yours now and stays yours.
Bot no longer lingers in empty voice channels Fixed
Fixed a bug where the bot could stay sat in a voice channel long after everyone had gone home, holding a recorder that nothing was using.

Server settings New
Servers can now set rules beyond the room host, in a new settings panel open to the owner, Administrators, anyone with Manage Server, or a role you name. It covers setup health, who can add or remove packs, which voice channels DisDubs can launch in (blank means all of them), a list of every uploaded pack with who added it and when it was last used, and a history of who changed what. Every default matches how the app already worked.
Backing track volume slider New
Some packs ship loud backing music that overpowered the voices in the mix. A "Backing track in the dub" slider, in the lobby and on the review screen, lets you turn it down and render again. It only changes the mix, never the recorded audio, so lowering it can never cost a take.
Solo sessions no longer lose their last take Fixed
Recording "at your own pace" alone used to destroy your last take on the way out, so a solo run could never actually finish. Fixed.
Solo booth deafens no longer cross sessions Fixed
Two sessions running in the same server could interfere with each other: one room ending could undeafen a cast still recording next door. Deafens are now counted per server, so nobody is released until every session holding them has let go, and the list survives a restart so a crash can't leave someone deafened with nothing left to undo it.
Swap parts on review New
A new button on the review screen passes everyone's part along one slot in the same scene, so two people can swap and three can rotate. Take a turn as the villain without starting the scene over.
Queue up a night's scenes New
"Add to queue" is now on every scene's menu. An "Up next" strip sits above the picker, and review gets a "Next" button that loads the following scene, so an evening of dubbing can run as one session instead of repeated trips back to the picker.
Hear the original while you record New
A checkbox next to the 3-2-1 countdown plays the original line delivery in your ear from the moment the take starts, so you can copy it live. It's off by default and set per person. Use headphones: on speakers, the original ends up recorded into your take.
Post finished dubs to a text channel New Studio
A new Posting tab in Server settings lets you pick a text channel, and every finished dub is posted there with the video attached, so people who weren't in voice can see the result. The bot needs Send Messages and Attach Files in that channel, and the tab says so if it doesn't have them.
A clearer first screen Improved
The first screen now shows what a dub actually is, a line, a part, a take, the clip coming back with a voice on it, before asking you to set anything up. Currently in beta.
Fixed a double-press recording bug Fixed
Pressing Record twice in quick succession could start a new take on top of one already rolling. Fixed.

Booth waveforms scale to show quiet takes Fixed
Waveforms in the booth used to draw at their true volume, so a normally spoken take barely showed above the line, leaving nothing to line up against the original. Both waveforms are now scaled to their own loudest moment, so a quiet take actually looks like one. A line that comes back silent still looks silent, since that is exactly what the booth is meant to reveal.
Bot no longer abandons your recording room Fixed
Opening DisDubs in a second voice channel while another room was recording used to pull the bot out of the first channel and into the second, leaving the original take rolling but silently empty. The second room is now told which channel is busy and waits its turn, so the original recording keeps going uninterrupted.
Store buttons now open the DisDubs store Fixed
The Studio and Scene Pack buttons used to open nothing at all, with no payment sheet, error or message. They now take you to the DisDubs store page, which sells the same items.
Overlapping lines keep their full length Fixed
A line cued on top of others, such as a chorus or a song running under a page of dialogue, used to be cut short the instant the next line started, turning a full verse into a 1.5 second stub in the booth, and actually stopping the recording there in live mode. These overlaps are intentional and now keep their full length. This only affects new imports, so re-import a pack already in your server to pick up the fix.
Host badge returns automatically Fixed
A dropped connection, or even a locked phone, used to hand the host badge to someone else for good, making it look like the room was reassigning hosts at random. Someone else still holds the badge while the host is away, since a room needs one, but it now returns automatically the moment the host reconnects.
First line can start before the clip Fixed
A take on a line cued right at the start of the clip could not be nudged earlier: moving the slider had no effect on the mix. Takes can now slide to before the clip starts.
I'm done button moved to the last line Improved
Finishing used to live in the header while advancing through lines lived at the bottom, so people would finish their last line and then just sit there waiting. The last line now shows an "I'm done" button in the same spot "Next line" used to be, and it checks before wrapping the session if you're the last person still recording. Anyone cast with nothing left to record is now marked done automatically.
Premiere no longer rewinds for everyone Fixed
One viewer whose video was still buffering could drag the entire room back to the start, over and over. A client's own catch up corrections are no longer mistaken for someone seeking, so the film now plays through for everyone even when one machine is struggling.

Preview a scene before you pick it New
Point at a scene in the picker and it plays itself silently for a few seconds, so people other than the host can see what a scene actually is before it gets picked. The preview starts where the dialogue starts, not at the top of the clip. On a phone there's nothing to hover, so whichever card you've scrolled to the middle of the screen is the one that plays.
Rename a scene without re-uploading it New
Whoever uploaded a pack can now rename it and edit the smaller subtitle line underneath, right from the scene card. Before this, fixing a wrong name meant deleting the pack and uploading it again, which cost an upload slot and made the server re-encode the whole video to change one word.
Scene card actions moved into a menu Fixed
Remove, Submit and the new Rename option now live in a menu in the corner of each scene card, always visible rather than appearing only when you hover. This also fixes two problems: those buttons simply didn't exist on a phone before, and Remove used to sit right where the mouse passed on its way to picking the scene.
"At your own pace" is now the default dub mode Improved
It's the first option offered when starting a dub, and what you get unless you change it. Whole scene is still there and still good for playing off each other live, but it cuts every line strictly on the timings written into the script, so two consecutive lines from one person can run together and double up on the last half second. The booth avoids this because it cuts on the marks you set when you press record.
Make your own packs with DubForge New
DubForge, a free open-source tool, cuts any video into a pack you can import. Name each clip after whoever says it, for example "Monika" or "Sayori", and everyone gets their own part on import. Clips named after the line itself still import fine, but cast a single person for the whole scene.
Finished dubs now expire after 2 days Improved
Finished dubs used to be kept for 10 days; they're now deleted after 2, for storage and security reasons. Raw recordings are unchanged, still expiring after about 2 hours. Download anything you want to keep.
Download renamed to "Export mp4" Improved Studio
Same feature, now sitting next to Export for socials under a clearer name. Free exports carry a small DisDubs mark in the corner and take a moment to render. With Studio there's no mark, and the export comes back immediately since there's nothing to draw and so nothing to re-encode.

Countdown before recording starts New
Recording in At Your Own Pace and Mystery Reel now counts you in three, two, one before it starts, and the moment it hits GO is the exact moment your line begins. You no longer need to drag a take backwards to fix a second of fumbling for the mouse. Untick the 3-2-1 box next to the Record button if you don't need it, for example on a later take of the same line.
Live waveform tracking while recording New
While recording, a line now sweeps across the waveform to show where you are against the original, with a bar under the words that fills as you go and turns red if you run long. Mystery Reel shows the same tracking, so you still can't hear the original line but can see yourself land on it. This feature is in beta.
Clearer cue before whole scene lines Improved
The get ready warning in Whole Scene mode now counts down three, two, one before your line instead of ticking off tenths of a second. You can look away during long gaps and still catch your cue. This feature is in beta.
Leave a dub without stopping it New
Anyone cast in a dub can now leave it. The rest of the group carries on, your part goes back up for grabs, and anything you'd already recorded is kept. The host can still use Abandon to stop the dub for everyone and return to the scene picker, keeping any takes already recorded.
Video not playing help button New
A new button next to every video player explains that a black or frozen picture with sound still playing is usually Discord handing the video to a graphics driver that won't decode it, not a problem with DisDubs. The button points to the fix: turning off hardware acceleration in Discord's settings.

Fixed zip files wrongly rejected on import Fixed
Some scene packs failed to import with a "could not unzip" error even though the file was fine. It came down to how the zip had been compressed, not what was inside it. Those packs now import unchanged, so if your upload was rejected before, just upload the same file again.
Sessions survive a server restart Fixed
Rooms used to disappear whenever the server restarted. Now they come back: the scene, the casting and every take already recorded are waiting where you left them. You get a warning before it happens so you can finish the line you're on. The one thing that can't be saved is a line still recording at the exact moment of the restart.

Mystery Reel: a new party mode New
Nobody picks a scene and nobody gets cast. Everyone is dealt random lines from random scenes with no idea what they're performing, and the whole room watches the results together at the end.
Export clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts New
Turn any single line, or the whole dub, into a vertical video with the words on screen. Save it and post it wherever you like.
Studio now explains itself before you pay Improved
The Studio button shows exactly what you get first, instead of sending you straight to Discord's payment screen.
Fixed uploads that failed silently Fixed
Some packs refused to import for no visible reason. That's fixed, and if a pack still can't be added, it now tells you what's actually wrong with it.
Mystery Reel booth now shows the rhythm Improved
Your card used to give you only the words and a countdown. There's a waveform on it now, showing the shape of how the original line was delivered, so you can see where the beats fall and drag your take until it lands on them. You still can't hear the line, and it still won't tell you who you are or what scene you're in.
Awards after the results New
Once the room has watched the results back, everyone votes for Best Performance and Best Character. You can't vote for yourself, and a tie stays a tie.
Every mode now gets a premiere Improved
Whole Scene and At Your Own Pace now finish the way Mystery Reel does: a title card, everyone watching it together at the same moment, then the cast list and the vote. Only the first render gets the full treatment. Tweak something and re-render, and you go straight back to your takes.
Recording timer counts down, not up Improved
The booth's recording timer now shows how much time you have left, instead of only how long you've been going.
See how far everyone else has got New
In the booth, you can now see how far everyone else has got through their lines.
Updates are announced in the DisDubs Discord as they ship. If something here is not behaving the way it reads, say so there and it gets looked at.
